Lancashire-born businessman Adrian Waddingham CBE has funded a new scholarship to assist young people from the county to attend university.
Adrian Waddingham CBE
Adrian studied Computer Science at Royal Holloway. Graduating in 1971, he then went on to be a founding partner of Barnett Waddingham LLP and in 2013, he was elected as one of the Sheriffs of the City of London, supporting the Lord Mayor in promoting the City of London.
Adrian was a founding and Senior Partner at Barnett Waddingham LLP; an independent UK professional services consultancy across risk, pensions, investment and insurance. From small beginnings with just 20 people, they’re now a team of over 1,270 people in eight offices across the UK.
Adrian wants to give young people in Lancashire the same opportunity he had and has funded The Red Rose Future Leaders Scholarship for Mathematics at Royal Holloway.
The scholarship will fund the opportunity to study a three year undergraduate degree in the Department of Mathematics. Adrian Waddingham CBE said: “I was very fortunate to get the chance to study for my degree at Royal Holloway. Help was available to undergraduates in the late 1960’s and we were able to take advantage. I hope that this scholarship will give more students in my home county the chance to do the same and get to Royal Holloway.”
The scholarship will be awarded for entry in September 2020. The closing date for applications is Friday 11 April 2020.
